The project explores how individual histories interweave with time and space through the life experiences of elderly individuals. During the process of field research, the artist observed that while discussing the issues about aging, which should be a gradual and natural phenomenon, experiencing the “emotions” of aging appears to be closely tied to familiarity with the environment, seemingly oriented towards memories and events of the past. The intricate interplay of temporal dimension prompts the artist to contemplate: when the past is no longer just the past, when memories and reality intertwine, will our perception of“aging” change? Stemming from this question, this project seeks to explore the relationships between individuals, space, life, memory, and technology
Treasure Hill Artist Village provides photos
In this project, artist Wang Yu-Ting employs villages as fundamental spatial units. By gathering information on the residents’ histories and migrations within these villages, she focuses on locations where the population has dwindled due to outward migration, yet the elderly continue to reside. This artwork not only delves into focusing on the individual history of older people, but also takes the village as a guide to understanding the relationship between aging and space.
